Last week the 26th EuroSPI Conference took place in Edinburgh which welcomed all international participants with unexpected beautiful weather. The three-day event offered exceptional key notes, interesting industry news and 10 different workshops focusing above all on the medical device industry, functional safety and international standards.
Lorit Consultancy hosted the medical device conference part on Wednesday with a wide range of industry relevant topics: Susan Leonard form Qara Consulting presented her insights on the upcoming significant changes in medical device regulation and the IVDR status. Marion Lepmets from Soft Comply was presenting together with Tom Stamp from Blue Curve about the implementation of ISO 14971 using Jira and Confluence as well as highlighting the forthcoming updates to ISO 14971. Another hot topic was the amendments of IEC 60601-1 AMD2 due in October 2020 which were one of the highlights of Alastair Walkers presentation. On top Cybersecurity, Human Factors, an FDA Case for Quality and IEC 62304 were covered by different speakers such as Morten Korsaa from Whitebox, Georg Macher from University of Technology Graz, Fergal McCaffery from Nova Leah and Ceara Treacy from Dundulk Institute of Technology.
Multi-day conferences always offer the possibility to get to know one another even better when spending some hours together at evening events. This year we were happy to show all participants the traditional Scotland. On the first evening we had a nice tour through the old town of Edinburgh. After the second conference day we went to the Ghillie-Dhu – a Scottish bar and restaurant where we ended up dancing a traditional Scottish Ceilidh. It was a pleasure seeing our guest enjoying this special evening – some of them even in kilts.
Thanks to EuroSPI & Richard Messnarz and his team to bring this year´s conference to Edinburgh. We are looking forward to seeing all of you next year in Düsseldorf.
