Lorit Consultancy at the VDA Automotive Sys

Last week Alastair Walker and Dijaz Maric attended the VDA Automotive Sys Conference in Potsdam. We were welcomed with wonderful weather in a beautiful city and an interesting conference programme with sessions and key notes from a huge number of international industry leaders. Moreover we were excited to have our own Lorit Consultancy stand there to present our extensive knowledge and varied skills. Alastair also had the chance to give a presentation on SOTIF on day 2.

On Thursday we took part in numerous sessions, for example “Safety argument for AI based systems in the context of highly automated driving” with Gesine Schwalbe from Continental Automotive which was a very interesting presentation where we came away with a lot of new input. Samer Makker from Valeo showed an effective and helpful gap analysis in his session “Cost Reduction by Mutual Integration between Automotive SPICE® and IATF 16949:2016“ followed by Leonardo Ricci´s presentation “How a mature organisation for ASPICE can help in fulfilling IATF 16949 requirements”. It was great to get insights into the experience of Tier1 suppliers regarding ASPICE & IATF compliance.

Beside a lot of other great sessions we were impressed by the keynote “Autonomous Vehicle Safety and Perception Stress Testing” from Philip Koopman (Chief Technology Officer, Edge Case Research; and Associate Professor, Carnegie Mellon University) who closed the first conference day. In the evening we enjoyed the summer night with cocktails, barbecue and music from the 70s and 80s at the Restaurant Zeppelin in the Kongresshotel Potsdam and had a lot of interesting conversations with other conference participants.

Day 2 started with another groundbreaking keynote and followed by various interesting breakout sessions, inter alia, Alastairs presenation about “SOTIF- The Human Factor”. On top we had a great time at our stand welcoming conference attendees who wanted to get a deeper insight into our work.

Summarising, we had two great and successful days at the VDA Automotive Sys with many inputs for the future and we are looking forward to the next conference Lorit Consultancy will join.
