Why is the ISO 26262 standard of great relevance?

With the ever-increasing amount of electronics added to cars, functional safety and risk management plays an increasingly important role.

The ISO 26262 series of standards is based on the IEC 61508 standard and meets the sector-specific requirements for electrical and/or electronic (E/E) systems in road vehicles. It applies to all activities during the safety life cycle of safety-related systems consisting of electrical, electronic and software components.

Functional safety in ISO 26262

Functional safety (also known as “FuSa”) generally describes the safety of a system. This depends decisively on the possibilities and actions to identify, correct and/or control errors.  In ISO 26262, ASIL levels are used to classify risks, on the basis of which all systematic and random failures are analysed in order to prevent damage to the respective user.

Numerous tools such as DFA, FTA, FMEA, HAZOP and many more can be used to analyse the errors. We can support you in all these activities with our many years of experience.
